Who can believe that certain banks are appealing against the competition Commisions decision to ban selling ppi when loans are taken. Some people have said that given the amount of money that they have taken from “the man on the street” and all the ppi complaints that have been won, you would think that they would just give up and just go along with the ban and keep quiet.

I was reading an article in The Guardian which said that it will be difficult for the Competition Commission to impose a ban on offering PPI at the point of sale of a loan because they don’t have sufficient evidence against the banks to uphold this decision. With the controversy caused by the banks I’m surprised they want to drag the appeal on, it seems to me that the case is just damaging their reputation if nothing else. The banks say they want to continue to sell PPI at the point of sale of the loan because they feel the ban limits rather than enhances the customer choice. In my opinion they just want to continue to confuse their customers with red tape at the point of sale as it will be harder for them to force PPI onto customers once they have had chance to mull over their decision to take PPI.
