Van man accuses lorry driver of negligence - 05/02/2008[top]
A van man who survived a collision with a 17 tonne grab lorry in 2004 is battling for more than £300,000 compensation and a writ has been issued accusing the heavy goods vehicle's driver of negligence.
Graham Snowdon of Hitchin was seriously injured after his Vauxhall Mouvano collided with the lorry on September 30th, 2004. His passenger, 21-year-old Leo Ennis of Baldock, was killed in the incident, reports the Comet.
The writ says Mr Snowdon now suffers from physical, cognitive and behavioural disabilities and needs assistance in aspects of his everyday life.
Truck driver Michael Telford, of Bedfordshire is accused of not keeping a proper lookout, performing an illegal U turn, failing to give way or avoid the accident and failing to give adequate thought to his manoeuvre.
Dancer Kerstin Parkin was awarded a record negligence payout worth up to £20 million in 2002 after being left brain damaged by a series of NHS blunders.
